Enjoyed a beautiful walk on the beach at low tide. Everything changes here at low tide; a reflection of the last of the fading color and light of the day captured in now still water of the sea, among them. A natural setting for a 'guiding principle'.

Marilynn; the featured artist/friend at her San Fran digs and art loft, of the first blog post; arrived shortly after my arrival. She was expecting to close on a great little, very local, casita; after a series of many 'yes'es she was still getting a runaround. She finally got a 'yes' back and is now cleaning and mucking to move in! YES!

A very evident, 'guiding principle' of Marilynn's life.

Camille, 'all of your sand dollars don't need to alabaster...

I was telling the story of a time, years ago, when we collected hundreds of sand dollars here in San Felipe. They were full of the fine sand here, which slightly darkens them, so they remained in my bathtub for months (I think, could have been years with me) as the sand continued to filter out making them more 'alabaster'. Camille, was holding many, not 'alabaster', sand filled sand dollars at the time; already content to leave the sand. My story, however, would inspire anyone to, happily, leave the sand!

'A little variegation is beautiful'...

'Border Issues?...Really? 'Time and Unforseen Occurances'...

Thought I'd take just a minute, really stepping out of my bubble, to assuage the fears of those who've been following the news of the border 'massacres'! Maybe I am in a bubble; what 'massacres'? I'm just living here! It's not just me, however, blissfully enjoying life in the Baja, unconcerned with what's happening in the drug world along the borders, it's everyone. Most likely, there have been more murders, beatings, muggings, rapes, etc. closer to your proximity than mine. 8,000 killed? Where? Wouldn't the people of this country know this, or wouldn't some of their lives be effected by this if it were true? Hummm... So far, this is not, effecting our lives, or the crossing in either direction, of the border. If we're having a problem we don't know it yet. I've crossed it several times in the last month myself, unscathed! This is just me thinking in my bubble, but, others seem to share it.

So, I'm not filming this, but here is a 'guiding principle for life'... a real one; "time and unforseen occurance befall us all,"  so don't waste time and energy on sensationalism of unforseeable occurances...that's it! I can't promise that an unforseen occurance won't befall me or anyone else that endeavors to travel here but I don't think any of you can make that promise in your locale either.

Hope this makes everyone feel better. Rest assured. Be fearless in your lives and travel!

Kathleenie, when you get to the end of your rope...

I'm 'hangin' on here! Not at the end of my rope yet.

'Fresh Juice Anyone? Come on Down'

Gabriel's, 'jugo' stand is the only one downtown at the moment. He has all kinds of juice daily; alfalfa, beet, carrot, cactus, to mention a few, in addition orange and other citrus. I usually go for the orange, 'squoozen' at the moment, also, very good with a little fresh lime twist!

This will be a regular morning stop, two short blocks from my house. And, if I'm looking a little 'touristy' in my 'she's definitely a tourist hat', there is purpose behind it.

Just being respectful of those of you who are concerned about premature aging from the sun, so have my hat and sunscreen on! Can't wait for 'post'maturity, ditchin the hat and sunscreen!

So, anyone who's up for it, come on down. No hat necessary.

'Around San Felipe..Fresh Juice, Any Dayof the Week'

Just a little tour and some of my first favorites. I've always loved that you can get fresh juice here all the time (we used to come down to San Felipe years ago, seems like forever ago), they've been doing this for, forever! Makes you wonder why we can't get the same thing in the US where we're supposed to have everything!

'Same Beach, Tide's Out'

Mom and Ray looking North from Casey's
Casey and Ray, same beach, in front of Casey's Place, looking north then south. Everything totally changes when the tide is out. More about the tide later.

'Casey's Place and Beach Front, San Felipe'

Mom and I on the beach directly in front of Casey's. He has one of the only raked beach areas on the main San Felipe beachfront so it's nice.

This is Casey's place, my current stopping off place. Casey has a bunch of San Felipe rentals, one of which I will be house sitting in after the spring rush. Several events coming up in San Felipe; the Baja 250 being the first, racers have already started to arrive. I think it's going to be a bit crazy for me.

Kari & Dad, just because you might get lost...

I did get lost in Mexicali (the Mexican border town) on my first trip down.  In my fumbling spanish I managed to convey that and got a lots of rapid, clear, spanish responses...too bad I don't hear it any better than I speak it! I eventually wound (and I mean wound) around until I was on the road to San Felipe. So here I am asuaging any fears dad might have had in sending mom down the Baja with Me!

A guiding principle I've definitely lived by. I've been lost a lot but have made many journeys in spite of it.

The Road to San Felipe and Back...this is not the moon

Well, this is finally it, the road to San Felipe, Baja, Mexico! I thought you might like to see what I'm so crazy about. San Felipe is about 120 miles down the Baja on the Sea of Cortez. It's a dusty, dirty little town accessible by this rather lunar drive though the desert. It really is 120 miles of sand, jagged mountains, salt flats and the occasional desert flora; imagine this video looping for two hours.

I love the drive down. The mountains are multi-contoured, multi-layered, and shadows are constanly changing the rugged terrain. This is just a glimpse of the amazing landscape of the Baja. Enjoy the drive.

Mom, if you get a chance to travel, do it...

Mom has always had her own agenda in this 'guiding principle', and it's something I've lived by as well. Of course, it is noteworthy that she doesn't say, 'if you get a chance to travel with Kari, do it"! We've traveled many miles together and have many yet to go.

Dad, if your wife wants to do it, let her...

The sand dunes west of Yuma were my last stop before the Baja. Mom and dad parked in the desert there waiting to send me off. Mom decided to come down with me; dad had this 'guiding principle for life' to pass on. Guys, pay attention.

'Brain Blogged Down'

Finally, after days of trial and error, I think I'm starting to have a break through on blogging. My goal here is to try to keep friends and family up to date in a convenient way for everyone. I would especially like to make it easy for me to do this so that it gets done. As you'll see, you reall need to go back to the beginning post to know what's going on. It's taken me a while to get 'blog savy'. I'm trying to include all who have been part of this transition from Colorado to San Felipe, Baja, MX - from of course the inception of 'the blog'. At this time, I don't plan to have a phone so keep in touch with me by responding to ems, blogs...You can sign up to be a follower if you want, don't ask me how.

Remember read previous blogs first for now, you actually have to scroll all the way to the bottom to get to 'older posts' and click on that,  and watch 'I'll do without that someother time', before 'You can sleep when you're dead'. Will be posting other guiding principles for life and bringing you completely current soon.

Kari, you can sleep when you're dead...

Torri, I'll do without that someother time...

'Take Time for Coffee and Friends'

Enjoyed many visits over coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks in NoCal. It was really a busy week but proof of what you're able to pack in when both time and people are precious.

We frequented all the new restaurants/coffee shops, and some of the old; during one of these pleasant exchanges was born the 'guiding principles for life' short video take. These are short spontaneous takes, the filming (you have to view them sideways) is poor, the editing (usually none) is poor, but, they're fun and, if not wisdom to enrich your life, will certainly open possibilities...especially for all of you 'arians'.

We hit one night spot to see the Jim Byar Band play as Torri sings with the band. It was a great treat to hear them. You can check them out at www.jimdyarband.com

'En Route or Along the Way'

Trying blogging again, although I'm starting to feel like I'm two left 'blogfooted'...there seems to be quite a learning curve for the over 20 challenged! I would humbly accept help from a 4 year old, but as there are none handy, it's just me fumblogging along.

Had a Good time in Redding catching up with old friends and family.
